For more than 800 years, the Cruciform Order of St George has defended Christendom. Even as the Choirs of Heaven fell silent, the Cruciform Order has remained resolute, grimly holding back the tide of the damned from one scarred battlefield to the next.

This pack represents command figures within the Cruciform Order, consisting of the below (from left to right):

An Order Field-Nurse – The Order’s Field-Nurses provide invaluable care to the wounded at the front, often at great risk to their own safety. When necessary, they are also prepared to grant mercy to the suffering—an important tenet of their calling.
An Order Castellan – Second sons and scoundrels with easy smiles, the Castellans of the Cruciform Order carve out their own fiefdoms in No Man’s Land. Each Castellan is responsible for a section of trench and the soldiery within it.
An Order Sapper – Masters of trench warfare, Sappers are responsible for the placement of Order defences and finding weaknesses in those of the enemy. They may lack the grandeur of the Order’s Field-Knights, but their work can mean the difference between life and death, even before the bullets start flying.

As the Cruciform Order of St George's heavy assault infantry, the Field-Knights can count on both the quality of their armament and the soldiers within their unit.

Renowned throughout Christendom for their discipline and resourcefulness, they are a bittersweet sight in the trenches. Although there are fewer skilled men to call comrades, their presence usually indicates that heavy fighting is expected. This pack consists of three Order Field-Knights equipped as below (from left to right):

Madsen Machine Gun – Purchased from England’s Danish allies, the Madsen is the first machine gun deployed in great numbers across the continent. It provides much-needed fire support for units of Field-Knights on the move.
Greatsword – As their name suggests, the Field-Knights follow a long-standing chivalric code. Each Field-Knight is expected to be a disciplined exemplar of hand-to-hand combat, and this figure wields a fearsome greatsword.
Thompson SMG – Submachine guns are a relatively new addition to the Order’s armament. Ideal for trench fighting, they combine the fire saturation of a machine gun with manoeuvrability. This Field-Knight also carries a bayonet on his belt, should he find himself in need of more traditional methods.

Just as the Shepherd protects their flock, so too does the Clergy At Arms attend to the soldiery of the Cruciform Order.
This protection is not solely for God’s Kingdom on Earth, but is also concerned with the eternal souls of the faithful.
Despair and temptation come easily amidst the horrors of the trenches, yet the Word of God can be found wherever a Combat Cleric treads.

Each Combat Cleric is a seasoned warrior in his own right, secure in the knowledge that many a battle has been turned by a single, blessed shot.
This pack consists of three Clergy At Arms equipped as below (from left to right):

Consecrated Shotgun – The collection plate ensures that the Clergy At Arms are equipped with only the best armaments. Each consecrated shotgun shell contains trace amounts of blessed silver, thought to be especially lethal against the denizens of Hell’s outer circle.
Holy Polearm of St George – The very symbol of the Combat Cleric’s office, symbolising their holy purpose; only a fool would underestimate the danger this seemingly simple weapon represents.
Scoped Lee-Enfield – If a single weapon were to personify the Cruciform Order, it would be the Lee-Enfield. Accurate, reliable, and produced in great numbers, this humble bolt-action rifle is rightly feared amongst the damned.

The Heavy Field-Knights are a blessed few in number; the exacting demands of their training regime, along with the required genetic compatibility and modification, mean that only a small number of aspirants survive the process. Counted among the Cruciform Order’s most devout soldiers, to become a Heavy Field-Knight is to accept that you give your life to the Order—and that, one day, another will wear your sacred armour.

Heavy Field-Knights have a vast armament to draw upon, while their inhuman strength and resilience allow the Cruciform Order of St George to fight the most hateful of the damned on almost equal terms. This Heavy Field-Knight wields a shield and glaive.

To the sound of drums and bugles, the Cruciform Order of St George marches onwards across No Man’s Land. Yet every Field-Knight was once a squire, and every Castellan an adjutant. The Order Drummer Boy represents just such an adjutant, or perhaps a regimental mascot, far from the comforts of home and thrown into the terrors of the trenches.
