The followers of the Heresy of Greed delight in refinement in all its forms. Naturally, this extends to suffering. Physical pain is crude amusement, fit only for unimaginative minds. True elegance lies in corrupting the bonds between men, turning hope into punishment and authority into a curse.

Thus was born the King of the Wretched. Whenever a flock of slaves is gathered, the one carrying the lightest burden is "elevated" to kingship. He is relieved of his load, dressed in fine robes, fitted with a crowned mask, and entrusted with an old shotgun.

Many newcomers envy him, but none take long to understand their mistake. Every crime committed by his fellow servants becomes the King's punishment. If a slave steals food, the King is denied his rations. If another loses his master's spoils, the King receives the lash. Every act of defiance and every failure is laid upon his shoulders. Some kings answer with tyranny, ruling through terror to preserve themselves. Others embrace martyrdom, accepting every punishment in silence. Many are simply tormented by the very slaves they are meant to rule.

As if this were not cruel enough, the Lords of Greed introduced another piece to their grotesque game: the King's Bearer. Chosen entirely at random, the Bearer inherits the King's former burden of gold, relics, and plunder, and is granted absolute immunity among the slaves, along with an old shotgun. He may rob, beat, or even kill without consequence, so long as he never relinquishes the treasure he has been chosen to carry upon his back.

None of it serves any practical purpose. The slaves exist in perpetual anarchy, dying beneath impossible burdens, arbitrary punishments, and senseless violence. But such losses mean nothing to the Heresiarch, for there are always more prisoners to enslave and more sinners to replace the dead.

A precocious child prodigy of evil found their calling in goetic knowledge, & warped it to their tastes. Now an age has passed & their once frail body has warped too, & not to their disappointment.

Their favourite morsels are those that themselves prey upon the weak & naive, & to them it projects such an image. Drawn in they cannot see the monstrous form behind the pretty face, cannot perceive the never ending cycle of doomed birth & dissolution into caustic biological waste that trails behind them, & will not know of the red hot pincers & tongs that will rip their flesh from their bones to better fuel it's goetic magics until they are within its powerful grasp.

& for those that do not meet its tastes it lazily erases from existence with those same goetic magics born of temptation & predation.

With the dark sun ever-consuming the worlds it once nurtured between their horns, & excreting them once more as relativistic jets, it slinks forth from the hellmouth with a purr to anounce its arrival; even as the lambs & lions it births desperately seek a mother's milk that will never come.

Let all of creation feed its lusts!
